Queen Latifah’s New Funk

Queen Latifah’s New Funk

Have you heard Queen Latifah’s new song? On her forthcoming CD, “Persona,” the Queen’s new track has a splash of FUNK with her single “Cue The Rain.”

Latifah introduced her vocal stylings on her album, “Black Reign,” with her track “U.N.I.T.Y.,” and dropped rapping all together when she released her CD “The Dana Owens Album” in 2004.

Latifah is set to perform on the season finale of American Idol tonight (5/20/09) along with fellow talents Carlos Santana, Cyndi Lauper, Lionel Richie, the Black Eyed Peas and country favorites Keith Urban, and previous Idol winner, Carrie Underwood.

The Queen takes on the voice of “Ellie” in the third installment of “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs” this July, and appears as a physical therapist in the forthcoming Romantic Comedy “Just Wright,” set for release in 2010.

Latifah also has three more films on deck according to IMDB, with “All of Me,” “Welfare Queen,” and a remake of the Isaac Hayes Blaxploitation flick, “Truck Turner.” Latifah is set to star in “All of Me” and “Welfare Queen.” Edmonds Entertainment is producing “Welfare Queen,” and Dana’s own company Flavor Unit Entertainment take on production duties for “Truck Turner” and “All of Me.” Rumor has it that funny man Steve Martin is being wooed for “All of Me.” It would be the second pairing for Martin and Latifah, who first appeared together in the comedy “Bringing Down the House,” which grossed $153 million worldwide.
