Finally, The Black Dynamite Animated Series

Finally, The Black Dynamite Animated Series

The Black Dynamite Animated Series will finally premiere on July 15 at 11:30 on Adult Swim. I say finally because I attended a session at NY Comic Con, a couple of years ago, where the series was announced. I got my copy of the Black Dynamite comic book at the same time. I have been waiting for this series to air every since…

Carl Jones, a member of the creative team behind The Boondocks is behind the project, which “further chronicles the exploits of the central character, ex-CIA agent and full-time ladies man Black Dynamite, and his crew as they avenge the death of Black Dynamite’s brother against kung-fu masters, drug-dealing pimps and The Man and his crew.”

Michael Jai White, Tommy Davidson, Kym Whitley and Byron Minns, who all starred in the film, return to voice their characters.

Shadow & Act reports that Michael Jai White shared with Crave Online that Black Dynamite was apparently always meant to be a franchise – specifically, a trilogy of films with the same cast, and that they are developing ideas for the next 2 films.

“What Byron [Minns] and I always intended is we always thought from the beginning of a trilogy, Black Dynamite being one of a trilogy that would occur in that time period that starred essentially the same cast… We have some really funny ideas of other movies that are in that real vibrant time period. We’re trying to decide which would be the next step to do in that trilogy.”

“There’s some other stuff to do with Black Dynamite… Some of these other things we’re really excited about developing.”
