ROCK FUNKS IN BROOKLYN — UNLOCKING THE TRUTH ARE DOPE!

There’s not a lot I can say that the video doesn’t do already.  I just wanted to post it here at Funkalicious so as many people as possible could encounter this new music, and enable visitors to The Museum of UnCut Funk the opportunity to experience the incredible band called Unlocking The Truth.  I live in the same New York borough as they do, but it was a post on a friend’s Facebook page from Alaska that brought them to my attention.

The “friend” that I mention is Brock Lindow, he’s more of an acquaintance and the lead singer for the Metal band 36 Crazyfists.  Ain’t it “Crazy” how someone 3000 miles away can introduce you to a band in your own backyard?… click below for video:

Unlocking the Truth are: Malcolm Brickhouse (guitar), Jarad Dawkins (drums) and Alec Atkins (bass).  Three young men in the 6th grade from the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, they write and create their own music.  Whereas most of their peers are in to hip-hop, these guys love to ROCK – THAT’S FUNKY!!!

Unlocking the Truth

Unlocking The Truth are traditionalist in the vein of the forefathers of Rock-n-Roll and the innovators that followed i.e.: Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Bo Diddley and the avant-garde Ron Shannon Jackson, Fishbone and Living Colour.  Vernon Reid actually paid a visit to the band via an interview by Totally Biased:
