Bootsy Collins is working on a song and has plans to shoot a video for the Food-Pantry “OUR DAILY BREAD.” “They feed hungry people every single day,” says Collins, who’s contacted other musicians to aid him with the cause. “Midnightstar & Eddie Levert (of the) Ojays are onboard to help me lay it all down for the people,” Bootsy remarked on his Facebook page. The FUNK legend and friends expect to start shooting the video this Wednesday, August 21st — more details to follow ala FB.
About a month ago, The Museum of UnCut Funk paid a visit to the Aleem Brothers in Brooklyn.
Ok ok…I know I’m a little late to this party but this is TIGHT!!! I am talking about the new Jimi Hendrix motion comic Mojo Man, created by The Aleem Brothers. You know you want to read more about this!!!
Since I hit 100 blogs without realizing it, I figured I do something special for blog #105. The following list of LPs/ CDs are the FUNKIEST Soundtracks of all time according to www.funkaliciousblog.com – while all albums may not be comprised of all FUNK music, they are unquestionably FUNKY! Now, put on your favorite soundtrack, go ahead put it on… Let’s take a ride down memory lane and reminisce about what made you feel good when you heard any of these musical FUNKY gems.
New York Funkin’ City And Harlem, USA
As you know, I love Blaxploitation. What I dig most about these films is that a number of them took place in NYC. With all the jive-talking, gun-toting, leather-wearing, cocaine and heroin sniffin’ pimps, not to mention the outrageous outfits, cars and of course the women, all of these films had a funky inner-city vibe that was quite campy and extremely cheesy. I JUST LOVE IT!!!
Bootsy Collins is without a doubt one of the greatest bass players to have walked the face of the earth. Among the greatest of all time are James Jamerson and Bob Babbitt of Motown fame; Larry Graham (Graham Central Station/ Sly and the Family Stone); Stanley Clarke; Victor Wooten; Louis Jagger Johnson aka ‘Thunder Thumbs” (The Brothers Johnson); Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers); Paul McCarrtney (The Beatles); Cliff Burton (Metallica); John Entwhistle (the Who); Geddy Lee (Rush); John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin); Jack Bruce (Cream); Les Claypool (Primus) and Doug Wimbish (Living Color). Bootsy is definitely my favorite.
