Did you know pharmaceutical ads are illegal in other countries? Before the Affordable Care Act aka “ObamaCare,” health insurance was unattainable to millions in the U.S., but has been free in every other country for years. Commercials about drugs and new pills; the substitution of NARCAN as opposed to a junkie weening off heroin and the constant bombardment of remedies for erectile disfunction is out of control.
So I have either heard these albums in their entirety and listened to them incessantly; heard one or a few tracks; heard of or know of the artist; LOVE the artist, or got a recommendation to listen to the album, from a fellow music enthusiast. Steeped in FUNK, Blues, Jazz, Gospel, Rock, Pop and Hip-Hop, this is Thee (in no particular order) FUNKALICIOUS List of Music for 2016 – ENJOY!!!
I don’t believe the The Recording Academy will deny selecting Halsey or Lukas Graham for Best New Artist at next year’s Grammy Awards.
Although Adele is primarily noted for her voice, it’s all about the lyrics and music, that make a song. As popular as she is today, my love for her has grown, since she initially took the world stage. Dreezy has taken the world of music by storm and has been hailed as the “Princess of Chicago Rap.” Her album “No Hard Feelings” dropped this past summer, and she’s also featured on Aluna George’s track “Mean What I Mean,” from his latest, “I Remember.”
They actually haven’t. A band that’s been around since 1995, they’ve performed at the ceremony, presented there, even announced Tom DeLonge returning to the band there.
I find I have to search for new music every year. Apart from those that are promoted heavily, generally consumers are left in the dark, unless they go surfing online or hear about something by word of mouth. Last year one of my favorites, that seems like it will never stop getting exposure, is the song “Rise Up” by Andra Day.
Apparently it’s a delusional fabricated term to give a solicitor a license to keep calling at hours you asked them NOT to call. At least that’s been my recent experience with Sirius/XM Radio. Seriously Sirius – I won’t be blasting “Yacht Rock” or “BackSpin” any longer.
Morgan Freeman stars in a remake of “Ben-Hur.” It hit theaters last week and delivers the story in half the time of the original that starred Charlton Heston. Freeman takes on the role of “Ilderim,” a character that wasn’t in the original version, although I imagine there was one that was equivalent to it.
Above all, I’m grateful for my blessings, I can truly say that. This coward that took the lives of so many innocent people in Orlando should not be called a terrorist. It was a horrific occurrence, and while I do consider acts of violence terrorist acts, this weakling for lack of better description isn’t worthy.
Living 57 years is great, but if he were still here, he’d be 58. The ‘Controversy’ concerning his estate is a disgrace. People with a ‘Dirty Mind’, making claims to what he created, ‘Must Be Something in the Water They Drink.’
80 Empire a.k.a. The Rezza Brothers and Andrea Godin are all from Canada, but their favorite music, was made in the lower half of North America. The production duo and rising pop star got together and revamped Godin’s song “Falling.”
It’s been a month yet it’s still very much in the forefront of my mind. Although he was not an actual friend, he was a very dear companion to me through his music, as he was to millions. My last entry on him was merely a mention of his latest release “Hit-N-Run: Phase 2.”
Roger Ortega, a.k.a. RO, has hit “The Lottery”! It wasn’t by way of a “Lottery” ticket though, but through his choices to relish in his fortune, and appreciating the benefits that life has afforded him. Ortega started his first group, Slo Motion, at the age of 14. These days he’s rollin’ solo, as an artist, with the undying support of his loving family.
Prince’s release “Hit N Run,” was a definite favorite of mine last year… http://museumofuncutfunk.com/2015/12/07/the-funky-top-10-for-2015/ – Now his majesty has followed it up with “Hit N Run: Phase Two”…
Sly & the Family Stone’s “Everyday People” is the new song for selling Farxiga. Farxiga is a drug to aid people suffering from Type 2 Diabetes, more commonly known as “High Blood Sugar.” Last year, the same drug used the song “Walk of Life,” by Dire Straits. Apparently Big Pharma wasn’t getting the bucks they needed from that ad campaign – so this year they’re bringing the FUNK… http://www.ispot.tv/ad/A21Z/farxiga-everyday-people
I just featured The Isley Brothers in this series in “Part Seven” http://museumofuncutfunk.com/2015/11/16/funk-add-up-to-dollar-pt-even/ It seems like I blinked and here comes that sound… of FUNK, again. Phillips Norelco uses the group’s hit “It’s Your Thing,” to accent a man’s shaving prowess, which results in his face being fresher than that of his lady… http://www.ispot.tv/ad/Aw_Y/philips-norelco-getting-ready
Qatar Airways has kicked off beefing up their locations for commercial flights across the country. Qatar is the world’s third largest cargo operator with more than 150 destinations. The airline currently operates six cargo destinations to the United States, including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, and Los Angeles.
Tom Brady’s got Boston by the balls! The NFL got an entire year of free publicity due to “Deflategate.” Throughout the constant media blitz, Boston stood by their beloved Brady, initiating a “Free Brady” campaign.
The 58th Grammy Awards ceremony will be held on Monday, February 15, 2016 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. A couple months ago, I wrote about a few artists I believed were worthy of recognition, and they’re all among the artists nominated…
