The handwritings been on the wall for some time now. Once the advent of legalizing marijuana for medicinal purposes came into existence, the evolution of decriminalization and recreational use, was on its way – now it’s arrived.
Andre Romelle Young, better known as Dr. Dre, has dropped his new album “Compton”. The release came like a thief in the night, with minimal promotion and fanfare, just before the movie “Straight Outta Compton” hits theaters.
On Monday, July 7th, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the Compassionate Care Act. This action made the state of New York the 23rd in the union to legalize medicinal marijuana. Although the stamp of approval is restricted to non-smokable forms via pills, oils, or vapors, the legalization of cannabis across America’s 50 states continues.
The Last Frontier is legalizing weed! The state is already among the 13 states in the union where marijuana is decriminalized. This video is my short film that was featured in two festivals in 2007 in New York, NY and on the isle of Martha’s Vineyard, MA. It discusses cannabis culture in Amsterdam, Holland and makes the distinction between legalization and decrminalization of marijuana. Decriminalization is the abolition of criminal penalties in relation to certain acts, perhaps retroactively, though perhaps regulated permits or fines might still apply.
