Barry Roberts is “An Outdoorsman,” “one who spends much time in the outdoors or in outdoor activities” according to Webster’s, and very accurate when it comes to Roberts. He Loves to hunt (that’s him second from the right), fish and Bar-B-Que, pretty much in that order. Now you can watch him whip some things up… online at: www.whatscookinwithbarry.com
A fan of “True Blood” since its inception, I’ve noticed a little extra flavor this season. We’re about at the halfway mark and it looks like we’ll be killing “Warlow” on Sunday judging from the previews — I was thinking it was gonna take all season, but I digress, back to the FUNK. Retta from the sitcom “Parks and Recreation” hosted the season premiere at club “Fangtasia” for starters.
During the summer of 2012, I set off on a quest to find the best cheeseburger in my area. I was on a mission to re-capture the chesseburger taste of my childhood. You know, when beef was real and not loaded with hormones and fillers. I visited a number of burger joints in New Jersey and New York.
On a recent episode of Man v Food on the Travel Channel, my favorite network, the host Adam Richman ate at a deli in New Jersey called Harold’s. He ate a humongous sandwich and a huge piece of cake. So of course you know I had to go and check this place out for myself.
I just happened to be in Hoboken, NJ trying to retrieve a lost item that I left on New Jersey Transit and as I was leaving I turned the corner and noticed that there was no line to get into Carlo’s Bake Shop. The last time I visited Carlo’s, owned by The Cake Boss, the line was a couple of very long blocks long and it took me an hour and a half just to get to the door.
Here is my recipe for my Smoked Pork Butt with Baked Sweet Potatoes and Garlic Roasted String Beans.
After spending a week in the Caribbean on vacation the last thing I had on my mind was getting in the kitchen and cooking dinner. So I got in my car and headed over to Montclair, NJ and went to Cuban Pete’s restaurant. A number of friends and colleagues had been recommending this joint for some time so I finally decided to visit.
Ok, I have a hidden passion for sweets and I love really good ice cream. Magnifco’s makes really good ice cream. They have an assortment of rotating flavors and a list of seasonal flavors as well. You can get fresh Fruit Sundaes, Ice Cream Sandwiches, Italian Ices, Gelati and sooooooooo much more. This is the place to go on a hot summer night. Check them out!
