All true Prince friends, fans and admirers don’t believe he makes any bad music, we just like some of his albums more than others. I honestly have not heard all of his releases, in their entirety over the past several years, but his latest CD “HIT n RUN” is FUN!
BB King is undisputedly one of the greatest Blues musicians that has ever lived. I got to meet and talk to him when he was promoting his album “Deuces Wild.” The release features covers of his hits, and he’s joined by the likes of D’Angelo, Van Morrison, Tracy Chapman, Eric Clapton, Mick Hucknall, Bonnie Raitt, Dr. John, Joe Cocker, Marty Stuart, the Rolling Stones, and Willie Nelson.
Louis Johnson, of the Brother’s Johnson discovered by Quincy Jones, passed away on May 21st. Truly one I was blessed to have met, and got to interview about his life and music, he was unquestionably one of the FUNKIEST to ever hold a bass guitar.
This is the best collection of T-Shirts I’ve seen that honor the legend that is Jimi Hendrix. A lover of his music for years, I wanted to bring this incredible website to the attention of those, that regularly and/ or periodically read this blog.
Prince is releasing not one, but 2 new albums this fall. Expected for release on September 30th, “Art Official Age,” is a solo project and “Plectrumelectrum,” is the long anticipated project that features 3rdEyeGirl. Friends and fans may already have seen the video for the previously released single, “Breakfast Can Wait,” which features Dave Chapelle on the cover art – if not, go here… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHbyNrGXpAA…
D’Angelo has taken the stage over the past two months. He did a few sets in London a couple weeks ago and another at Minneapolis’ popular venue First Avenue (that Prince made famous) with Questlove in June, according to okayplayer.com. I discovered this in light of a poster saying he’s performing in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on August 1st. That date is the kick-off of several sets through October.
There’s not a lot I can say that the video doesn’t do already. I just wanted to post it here at Funkalicious so as many people as possible could encounter this new music, and enable visitors to The Museum of UnCut Funk the opportunity to experience the incredible band called Unlocking The Truth. I live in the same New York borough as they do, but it was a post on a friend’s Facebook page from Alaska that brought them to my attention.
