Fifteen days ago, October 15th, marked the 48th anniversary of the Black Panther Party (BPP). This is the second installment of my reflections on the revolutionary black nationalist and socialist organization. The BPP was able to flourish in urban cities like Baltimore, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Indianapolis and Winston-Salem.
D’Angelo has taken the stage over the past two months. He did a few sets in London a couple weeks ago and another at Minneapolis’ popular venue First Avenue (that Prince made famous) with Questlove in June, according to okayplayer.com. I discovered this in light of a poster saying he’s performing in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on August 1st. That date is the kick-off of several sets through October.
