In the midst of societal ills and personal challenges I look to family and music for solace. Holy Moly! At the age of 22, Luc Besson released his first short film “L’avant dernier,” (translation: Next to Last) in which he also appeared. It starred Jean Reno, an actor that he would work with repeatedly in future films. Besson’s new film “Lucy” starring Scarlet Johansen hits theaters across the country this week, and it’s nowhere near ‘next to last’, on Luc’s list of movies.
The Coen Brothers have gone from Funky Indy filmmakers to mainstream Hollywood since they first arrived in 1984. A follower of their work since “Blood Simple,” which I saw at The Quad theater in NYC’s Village area, I’m looking forward to their new film “Inside Llewyn Davis.” Starring Justin Timberlake, the film also more than solidifies the singer’s place as an A-List movie actor.
Hey – What up Depp Head 🙂 Our man Johnny’s new movie starts today – YEA! Although it’s called “The Lone Ranger” it’s all about Tonto — why? Because it’s JOHNNY DEPP! Happy that his adventures as a pirate have been successful, I’m all for the new role. The trailer looks like we’re in for that old cheesy flavor accompanied with brand new technology — party favors and popcorn a must.
