“Jitney” is a triumph for the great playwright August Wilson, director Ruben Santiago-Hudson, the cast and Broadway! It opened this past Thursday and features a brilliant ensemble cast.
Morgan Freeman stars in a remake of “Ben-Hur.” It hit theaters last week and delivers the story in half the time of the original that starred Charlton Heston. Freeman takes on the role of “Ilderim,” a character that wasn’t in the original version, although I imagine there was one that was equivalent to it.
Living 57 years is great, but if he were still here, he’d be 58. The ‘Controversy’ concerning his estate is a disgrace. People with a ‘Dirty Mind’, making claims to what he created, ‘Must Be Something in the Water They Drink.’
According to CBS’s website: 25-time Grammy Award winner Stevie Wonder will be honored in a star-studded musical primetime special “Stevie Wonder: Songs In The Key Of Life — An All-Star GRAMMY Salute.” It airs on CBS next Monday, February 16th at 9pm/8pm central.

I Funkin’ LOVE Tamar Braxton’s new CD! If you haven’t heard it, GET IT, it’s unquestionably one of the best in R&B this year. Titled “Love And War,” it’s actually set a record in Billboard history. The album features the hit “The One,” which samples the classic Mtume jam, “Juicy.”
The new movie “42” based on the life and sacrifices of Jackie Robinson, is looking like it will be tops at the box office this weekend. Based on the book by Aaron Rosenberg and written directed by Academy Award winner Brian Helgeland, it opened with $9.1m at 3,003 venues on Friday, April 12th, according to studio estimates via Box Office Mojo.
Prince took the stage at Madison Square Garden last night for the fourth time amidst his Welcome 2 America Tour. “I’ll be back New York,” he yelled, “I love it here,” he exclaimed during the latter part of the show. His Highness vowed that he would return before TOO long, saying it had been awhile since he had done a major show in the Big Apple.

The first run of dates for Prince’s “Welcome 2 America” tour were announced Monday (10/27) morning. Purple Rain will fall on New Jersey December 14, 15 & 17 and in New York on December 18 and 29.
Prince is hitting the road. His majesty announced the upcoming “Welcome 2 America” tour will kick off on a “Purple day in December,” but he didn’t say where. The announcement was made at a press conference held at the Apollo Theater in Harlem recently.
