The first run of dates for Prince’s “Welcome 2 America” tour were announced Monday (10/27) morning. Purple Rain will fall on New Jersey December 14, 15 & 17 and in New York on December 18 and 29.
His highness will be playing a new custom-built Fender Stratocaster made of solid gold during the shows. The guitar will be auctioned off at the end of the tour, to benefit the Harlem Children’s Zone. Tickets go on sale Saturday morning at 10am.
Prince and the New Power Generation will be joined by Maceo Parker, Janelle Monae, Mint Condition, Esperanza Spalding, Cassandra Wilson, Sinbad, Lalah Hathaway, Sheila E. and Graham Central Station.
