Earlier this week, Aretha Franklin was discharged from a Detroit hospital after undergoing surgery that her doctors deemed highly successful! The Queen of Soul is in great spirits and very happy to be home where she will be resting in anticipation of spending the upcoming holiday season with her family.”
Aretha says, “My family and friends who brought me home are taking great care of me. I also have a private nurse who visits on a daily basis. I’m hoping to be strong enough to go out and see the upcoming Sam Cooke play at the Music Hall in Downtown Detroit before January 2nd, as well as a performance of Dreamgirls at the FOX before it closes.”
There have been media reports that The Queen of Soul is afflicted with pancreatic cancer. Representatives from Franklin’s camp have yet to confirm these reports. According to The Press Association — Franklin has told Jet magazine that she will soon reveal what prompted her recent surgery at a Detroit hospital. The music legend told the magazine that friends know she is “a lot more than the girl in the pink Cadillac on the Freeway of Love who also sings about Respect” and that they have prayed for her “without ceasing.”
