Alicia Keys will be the first entertainer to perform three times at the Super Bowl. The singer is doing the National Anthem at the game this year on February 3rd in New Orleans.
She sang “America the Beautiful” before the 2005 game, and was part of the pregame show in 2008. Alicia’s latest CD, “Girl On Fire,” has topped the Billboard album chart and she’ll hit the road for a 50-city tour on March 7th. The Grammy Award winning artist kicks off her road trip in Seattle, Washington; lands in her hometown of NYC in April; going across the Atlantic in May for shows in the UK; wrapping her run in Portugal the latter part of June.
Rumor has it that Keys will play the role of Lena Horne in the upcoming movie “The Ninth Wave.” The film is about a black soldier that faces racism during World War II. It’s based on the play by Leslie Lee. Keys has appeared in three other features and is the Executive Producer of the new film “The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete,” which stars Jennifer Hudson. Anthony Mackie, Jeffery Wright and Jordin Sparks also star in the movie, that screened at Sundance this past week.
Alicia appeared on the cover of Essence magazine for the third time this month.
After the Super Bowl, Keys will take part in the BET Honors airing on February 11th.
