Just off the set with Digable Planets and Ro James, among others at the Wolf Creek Amphitheater, for ATL’s Funk Fest, Erykah Badu brought the heat to the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans this Memorial Day weekend on the 28th.
I got to catch her set in Boston at the House of Blues and even ran into an old friend, that Badu gave a shout out to, during her set #Loyal. The Empress of FUNK wraps up dates in the states at the DMC Music Pavilion in Philly on August 10th; Charlotte’s Funk Fest on the 12th; closing the run at New Jersey’s Performing Arts Center in Newark, NJ on September 15th.
Between the U.S. holiday and her set in the “City of Brotherly Love,” Badu will do shows in Switzerland at the Montreux Jazz Festival this summer, then shows in July in London & Paris. She bounces back to the states for sets in Vegas and LA, on July 20th and July 21st – 23rd, respectively.
Also in June, A Tribe Called Quest, Solange and Anderson.Pakk will grace a festival in Paris! I just happen to catch sight of a poster while there recently.
I say “Erykah Is Legend” because she’s been doing her thing for 20 years now and she’s still garnering new fans. New fans that I witnessed at her Boston set, and she doesn’t have any new music out, music lovers are there for her body of work. This blog in recognition that Badu is a Bad Bitch when it comes to her artistry.
Nuff Respect,
