The “War On Drugs” has been a farce from it’s inception.  Created by government as a means of appeasing citizens, the angle was to make the non-thinker believe that law enforcement, actually had a hold or some level of control on drug trafficking.  Although the information I’ve compiled in this blurb is contained, it’s fairly meaty, however none of it is new and it only scratches the surface.

I’m so sick and tired of hearing about the epidemic of heroin use.  From TV specials, to special news reports, there’s not damn thing special about it.  Heroin use appears to be more out of control than ever before.  UPDATE 11/ 11/ 15: Now that it’s a problem in the suburbs it’s a disease?  For years people suffering in “Urban” communities from addiction was just considered criminal activity.  Now that people are suffering among the “Imperial Ruling Class” it must be stopped?  PUH-LEAZE… http://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/31/us/heroin-war-on-drugs-parents.html?_r=0

The reality is that pharmaceutical companies rely on opiates, from which heroin is produced, for a myriad of medications.  Institutions dedicated to “weening” heroin addicts off the drug, administer alternative products manufactured from opiates, that only get them hooked on something that’s “legal”.  According to World Health Organization (http://www.who.int/trade/glossary/story073/en/), the global pharmaceutical market is reported to take in 300-billion US dollars a year.  That figure is expected to rise to 400-billion within the next three years.  The 10 largest drug companies control over one-third of this market, several with sales of more than 10-billion dollars a year, and profit margins of about 30%.pharmacistforpurdue

The opium poppy, is a plant that opium and poppy seeds, are derived from.  Opium is the source of many drugs, including Morphine — from which heroin is derived — Thebaine, Codeine, Papaverine, Noscapine, Methadone, Vicodin, Dilaudid, Palladone, Meperidine, Oxycodone, Tramadol and Percocet, which contains a combination of Oxycodone and acetaminophen.  Fentanyl injection is used to produce anesthesia for surgery and to treat pain before, during and after surgery.  Exalgo (hydromorphone) extended-release tablets are used to treat moderate to severe pain. Exalgo extended-release tablets are for around-the-clock treatment of moderate to severe pain.  Opiates are the oldest drugs on the planet.  They’ve been around since the dawn of time, hence, the use of drugs produced from it.

Breakdown of an opiate:  http://www.isate.memphis.edu/opiate.html  —  OPIUM TIMELINE… http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/heroin/etc/history.html

Once heroin was declared illegal, multiple pharmaceutical manufacturers, began creating today’s multiple drugs from opium.  In 1978, Knoll introduced Vicodin, which is five milligrams of hydrocodone with 500 milligrams of acetaminophen.  By 1983, generic Vicodin became available.  OxyContin was introduced in 1995 and once known as “hillbilly heroin”.  In its first six years of existence, news reports put revenues from OxyContin at nearly 3 billion dollars, for its manufacturer Purdue Pharma.  Pharmacists, also known as chemists or druggists, are healthcare professionals who practice in pharmacy — the field of health sciences focusing on safe and effective medication use.

In 1973, Turkey was noted as the land where poppies grew in abundance, today it’s Afghanistan among other lands.  Haven’t you ever REALLY asked yourself why the U.S. is there and HAS been for so MANY years?

The “French Connection”, was an operation through which heroin was smuggled from Turkey to France, and then to the United States by way of Canada.  The operation peaked in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and was responsible for providing the majority of heroin, used in America.  There was even a movie based on this truth, you may have heard of it, it was actually titled “The French Connection”.  It starred the late Roy Scheider and Gene Hackman as the cop “Popeye Doyle”.

I referred to the government at the beginning of this piece, because it’s been reported that government, has had their hands in the manufacturing and movement of opiates for YEARS.  This item with Geraldo Rivera was published in 2013…

The irony connected to soldiers protecting poppy fields today, is that in the early 1900’s the poppy was deemed as a flower to represent life, due to the loss of so many.  Taken from http://www.greatwar.co.uk/article/remembrance-poppy.htm “…its association with poppies flowering in the spring of 1915 on the battlefields of Belgium, France and heroin3Gallipoli this vivid red flower has become synonymous with great loss of life in war.  Yet the scope of the poppy and its connection with the memory of those who have died in war has been expanded to help the living too.  It was the inspiration and dedication of two women who promoted this same “Memorial Flower” as the means by which funds could be raised to support those in need of help, most especially servicemen and civilians suffering from physical and mental hardship as a result of war.”  Although medications that are made from the plant, alleviate pain for millions, drugs that are produced from it kill even more.

According to the Centre for Research on Globalization: “It is well-documented that the U.S. government has – at least at some times in some parts of the world – protected drug operations.  Big American banks also launder money for drug cartels (for heroin and cocaine).  Drug dealers kept the banking system afloat during the depths of the 2008 financial crisis, and the U.S. drug money laundering is continuing to this day”  Click on the websites below…

From http://www.drugtext.org:  “Records show that narcotics have been used for at least 8,000 years. Over the centuries admiration for the pain-relieving effects of opiates has been tempered by increased awareness of their addictiveness.  Opium (Greek: opion, poppy juice) is in the milky exudate obtained by incising the unripe seed pod of the poppy…  By 1870 pharmaceutical manufacturing firms included huge doses of morphine in numerous proprietary medicines sold over the counter without prescription as household remedies.  Sears Roebuck andheroinshoot Company advertised narcotic-injecting paraphernalia… In 1895 it was estimated that 2 to 4 percent of the American population were morphine addicts…  By 1900 heroin was on the scene to stay, sold over the counter as a patent remedy for many different conditions… and a moral juxtaposition was in the making which ultimately redefined narcotics addiction as criminally deviant…  the Harrison Anti-Narcotic Act, unanimously passed by Congress on December 17, 1914…

UPDATE 10/ 19/ 15:  As a means of healing after C-Section surgery, women are encouraged to take three different opiates.  A Dilaudid drip; a time released Oxycodone tablet that disperses the drug in their system every two hours over eight hour intervals; and Percocet.  A woman that’s not educated or has a low tolerance for pain, will gladly take all three of these drugs, simply to not be in pain.  Granted this will aid her in her recovery process, however if she’s prone to drug use and still suffering once her prescription meds are no longer available, depending on the circumstances of her lifestyle heroin could be something she seeks.

An article recently published in the New York Times about the boom of opiates being grown in Mexico… http://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/30/world/americas/mexican-opium-production-rises-to-meet-heroin-demand-in-us.html?smid=fb-nytimes&smtyp=cur&_r=0

As long as I can remember, drugs have been associated with a certain lifestyle — phillipprimarily of the “urban” community and entertainment.  Drug culture is everywhere though, from the streets of NYC’s upper west side, to the suburbs of Chicago, to the purple mountains of Utah and prairies of Texas, to the shore of the Pacific ocean throughout California.  One of the more recent deaths that validates this, is that of actor Philip Seymour-Hoffman, who suffered from an overdose.  One of the most profound depictions of heroin use that I’ve ever seen, was in the film “Lady Sings the Blues”, which is the story of Eleanora “Lady Day” Fagan a.k.a. Billie Holiday.  Other films that display heroin use or discuss the history of it include: “Pulp Fiction”, “Cleopatra Jones”, “Trainspotting”, “Requiem for a Dream”, “Sid and Nancy”, “American Gangster”, “Gridlock’d”, “Wait Until Dark”, “Permanent Midnight”, “The Man with the Golden Arm”, “The Panic in Needle Park”, “Heroin Town”, “The Basketball Diaries” and “The Wizard of Oz” – Yeees, “The Wizard of Oz”, remember this scene…

UPDATE 12/ 17/ 15:  FROM CREDO ACTION – “Big Pharma is out of control!

Prices are skyrocketing and the biggest companies are raking in billions while sick people can barely afford the medicine they need:

1 Hedge fund “Pharma Bros” are buying up desperately needed drugs and jacking up the price.

2 And just a few weeks ago, Pfizer and Allergen merged in one of the biggest tax-dodging corporate restructures in history.

3  The pharmaceutical industry is running roughshod over patients and our democracy itself in its wild pursuit of profit. Progressive champions in Congress like Rep. Elijah Cummings and Sen. Bernie Sanders have stepped up to fight the reckless greed. And now CREDO is joining forces with a prominent group of progressive organizations to help declare that Big Pharma’s reign must come to an end.

Tell Congress: Time to hold Big Pharma accountable.  We’re standing alongside allies like DailyKos and Social Security Works to show Congress that the American people are tired of an industry that jacks up prices and refuses to pay its fair share.  SIGN THE PETITION – CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW:
