A couple of classics were released this past year, a few tributes, music from some that are jazz favorites and a couple of relative new-comers.  Harry Connick’s new release is a little different from what is longtime fans may be used to from him.  His CD “That Would Be Me” was released this month.  Herb Alpert’s “Come Fly with Me,” became available last month, as well as Lizz Wright’s “Freedom & Surrender.”  https://museumofuncutfunk.com/2015/09/17/for-the-funkin-love-of-lizz/

Fourplay also drops a new disc this year.  Their CD “Silver” becomes available on November 20th.  Those are among the favorites…

Tributes to Billie Holiday were released earlier this year.  https://museumofuncutfunk.com/2015/03/31/happy-100th-birthday-billie/.  Cassandra Wilson’s “Coming Forth By Day,” and Jose James’ “Yesterday I Had the Blues: Music of Billie Holiday,” were among them.

FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION… SETH MACFARLANE’S “No One Ever Tells You,” marks his third studio effort as a recording artist.  The media tycoon dropped his debut in 2011.  Candice Hoyes’ “On a Turquoise Cloud” is her debut release.  Angelika Beener of Downbeat Magazine says: “Uncovering the brilliance and importance of the soprano Ellington voices of Hall, Davis, and Babs brought about Hoyes’ most crucial revelation.”

Lastly, Erroll Garner’s “The Complete Concert By The Sea,” was released in September.  Recorded in 1955, it celebrates the 60th Anniversary of the original concert, in a 3-CD Box set.  There’s also “A Very Swingin’ Basie Christmas!,” from Count Basie, just in time for the holidays.funkyjazz2
