I’ve been so immersed in FUNK since I began writing this blog that I’ve FUNKED up a lot of stuff. Lately, anything that is good to me, I’ve labeled it FUNK because FUNK is so FUNKEN good. I’ve been so FUNKY that my editor started to wonder if I’m out of my FUNKEN mind 😉
Back to the FUNK that is music, The Black Eyed Peas have a new CD hitting the streets. Anybody’s who’s been paying attention, knows that hip-hop is the new bee-bop, Hip-Hop is the new Rock-n-Roll, HIP-HOP IS THE NEW FUNK! As the beats of James Brown were immersed in early productions of rap music that came from the East, the grooves of Parliament/ Funkadelic became the catalyst of latter day rap outta the West – hence, Hip-Hop ain’t nuthin’ but FUNK, that said…
THE E.N.D. is Coming!
The Black Eyed Peas new album “The E.N.D.” hits the streets on June 9th.
“THE COUNTDOWN TO THE E.N.D HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN,” says frontman Will.I.Am. “It’s been 4 years since the last album from The Black Eyed Peas. Thanks to all of our fans for making our 1st single, ‘Boom Boom Pow’ a #1 song in countries around the world! To show our fans that The Energy Never Dies, we will be revealing 1 song a week until June 9th and can’t wait to hear what you think.”
“Boom Boom Pow” and the groups new single “IMMA BE,” can heard via iTunes. Fans of BEP can pre-order “THE E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies)” on Amazon.
“The E.N.D.” marks the fifth release from the Black Eyed Peas. Since their first CD “Behind The Front,” they’ve dropped “Bridging The Gap,” “Elephunk” and “Monkey Business.” All four releases are now legendary as BEP have become a vibrant pulse of today’s pop-culture.
They’ve even turned out solo efforts and side projects. The most successful in sales being Fergie’s CD, “The Duchess.” Will.I.Am’s CD, “Songs About Girls,” is one of the most under-rated records of the past ten years. An album that encompasses dance, hip-hop and FUNK, if you haven’t picked it up, you’ve been missing out. It will w/o question stand the test of time and be re-visited in years to come. Side projects include: “Bucky Johnson: The Band Behind The Front,” “Lost Change,” and “Airpushers – Theme for the Ordinarily Strange.” Will.I.Am was even a primary producer on the Earth, Wind & Fire CD “Illumination.” Frontman and brother of EWF founder Maurice White, Verdine White, said to me after working w/ Will, “He’s a genius.”
The new CD, “The E.N.D.” features a computerized photo for its cover. The picture is a computerized composite of BEP members Will.I.Am, Fergie, Taboo and apl.de.ap.
This is one blogger that’s looking forward to the new FUNK of BEP –
