New music artists are out there, and perhaps in large numbers.  The way things are, it’s not always easy to find out about new music or talent that’s dope and worthy of praise.  Recently while browsing at Best Buy, I discovered new music from Keane and B.o.B., and remembered that I saw B.o.B. recently on some late night talk show.

I liked the song he performed and his first CD, and the wife LOVES Keane, so I picked them up.  Both releases are worth grabbing if you’re fans of either or both.  I’ll tend to ignore e-mails talking about new music, unless it’s from a friend or an artist I’m familiar with, but sometimes I’ll take time out to see if what’s being sent is actually good.  Such was the case a couple of days ago from a brother named Omar Wilson.  I recognized his name and remembered meeting him, so I proceeded to watch the YouTube clip, I was thoroughly impressed.  So much so that it prompted me to do this blog.  There is a multitude of talent out there.  I never imagined I’d say this, but thank goodness for vehicles like “American Idol” and subsequent follow ups like “America’s Got Talent” and “The Voice” that are actually platforms for many that would probably go unnoticed to millions.

Before I go any further, check out this clip from Omar Wilson:

Some other new music I’ve had the fortune to encounter are Bonnie Raitt’s “Slipstream”, Seal’s “Soul 2”, Jack White’s “Blunderbuss” and Santigold’s “Master of My Make-Believe.”  Raitt’s “Slipstream” and B.o.B.’s “Strange Clouds” are unquestionably my first two favorite CDs of 2012, with the other aforementioned new releases being primary contenders for my Top-10 at year’s end.  Bonnie and B.o.B.’s CDs couldn’t be more polar opposite, but both are profound expressions in their respective genres, pick ’em up.  I’ve heard some of Norah Jones’ new music, she never disappoints; Lionel Richie’s new CD “Tuskegee” actually hit number-one on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums Chart, I’m looking forward to hearing it; John Mayer’s new CD is at number-one for three weeks now; and Fiona Apple has new music coming out.  Lover’s of music can never get enough of hearing what’s good.  What do you like that’s new out there?  Please share 😉
