It looks like the Hawkins Brothers are on their way.  The team of Zeke and Simon Hawkins have wrapped their first film.  Featured at the Toronto Film Festival as “We Gotta Get Out of This Place,” “Bad Turn Worse,” hits theaters on November 14th.

Hawkins Brothers first filmFrom IMDB: “After a weekend of partying with stolen money, three Texas teens find themselves indebted to a sociopathic criminal named Giff.  To pay their debt, Giff forces the teens to steal from his boss, a money-laundering gangster named ‘Big Red.’  Things go from bad to worse when betrayal, distrust, and corruption complicate an already dangerous plan.”

The brothers, born in New York, have been making the rounds through the film industry.  Each of them have taken on various roles for multiple productions.  The older Zeke, was the assistant to director Bennett Miller on the set of the Oscar award winning film “Capote,” that starred the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman in the title role.  The two of them worked on the films “The Motel,” in different capacities and “The War Within” as location scouts.

Through their own production company, that bears their name, they produced a series of shorts in tribute to the classic film “The Godfather.”  A some what tongue-in-cheek collection of shorts, includes the titles: “The Godfather Musical: Luca Brasi Sleeps with the Fishes”; “The Godfather Musical: I’m Moe Greene!”; and “Ode to Fredo,” which you can watch here… http://www.imdb.com/video/withoutabox/vi4276551961?ref_=tt_pv_vi_aiv_1

I’m looking forward to seeing “Bad to Worse,” as well as whatever else these two young guns have coming down the preverbal pike, of filmmaking.
