What’s happening folks, it’s S.D., your favorite OG (older gent) here!  Reflecting on some of my favorite musical artists of the 70’s (1970-1979).  It was during these times that I personally enjoyed the natural development and maturation of some already known R&B acts.  In addition to being introduced to new musicians from the “DISCO” era.

70s Music - SoulThese artists not only became known for creating songs that were able to inspire you to move your feet, but to also touch your mind & heart spiritually, with their rhythms complimenting the lyrical content.  Just like an onion, music with it’s categories and genres, is multi-layered.  Since we’re specifically addressing 70-79, my listing of influential artists and LPs comes from a personal perspective, without any chronological order or any attempt on my part, to rate one group or record better than another.  That’s left up to the critics (so- called experts) and also to YOU.  But if you’re anything like me, this list will generate joyous moments for reflections and opportunities, to research & rekindle what good music sounds like!!!

Greetings from the Land of Funk Dayton Ohio. Growing up in Dayton was a real treat, so much talent, the street corner trios, garage bands, The OHIO Players, Slave, Sun, Phazo, Bootsey Collins, Roger Troutman and Zapp (Roger and the Human Body back then) Heatwave, Lakeside, just to name a few. The times were simpler yet troublesome as well. Thanks.
