Daniel Caesar is nominated for Best R&B Album at next year’s Grammy ceremony. One of several R&B talents that have emerged out of Canada, Caesar is an independent artist, in this streaming age of music. Liken to fellow Canadians, Justin Beiber and The Weeknd, his fan base spawned from the Internet.

While others made it happen through YouTube, Caesar’s breakout single “Get You” has gotten over 10 million streams on Apple Music, since it’s release a little more than a year ago. The song is up for Best R&B Performance at the Grammys in 2018. His following was so strong, that Apple declared him, one of their “Up Next” Artists. Caesar’s catalog actually does well on both Apple and Spotify, and he’s the number-one ‘Billboard Emerging Twitter Artist.’

Back in the day, Canadian crooner Glen Lewis and singers Tamia & Deborah Cox, had the benefit of record label support. Caesar had a sold out US tour, and nearly sold out in the UK, essentially on his own merit and efforts. Daniel’s style, delivery and message harkens to greats, like Marvin Gaye and Maxwell.

Caesar’s 2014 EP “Praise Break,” ranked number 19 on Rolling Stone’s, “20 Best R&B Albums” that year. This past August, he released his debut Golden Child Recordings album “Freudian,” which includes “Get You,” “We Find Love,” and “Blessed.” He’s currently doing shows in Canada, and kicks off the European leg of his tour in January, starting in Sweden.
