Our Friend, Martin is a 1999 animated children’s educational film about Martin Luther King, Jr. and the American civil rights movement.

This is the story of a Black teenager named Miles, who goes on a class field trip to the museum to learn about what Martin Luther King Jr. did for humanity. At first he thinks that he’d rather play baseball. But the trip turns into an exciting adventure when he and his best friend, Randy, who’s white, are sent back in time to meet Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at several points during his life.

The Our Friend, Martin original production cels and drawings featured above are from the Black Animation Art collection of The Museum of UnCut Funk.
