Have you ever been to a restaurant where the food and service are so good that you keep going back for more? Well Raymond’s in Montclair, NJ is that place for me.
I can’t say that Raymond’s is a Mexican restaurant. It’s more like a 50’s Americana style neighborhood diner that serves traditional Mexican dishes like Huevos Rancheros, two eggs over easy on a tortilla with beans and salsa, and Migas traditional Mexican scramble with crisp tortillas, poblanos and salsa verde. But they also serve an array of other dishes that are equally delightful and more traditional like French Toast. But the way they make their French Toast is different than any other that I have ever tasted. It’s outta sight! My partner in crime likes their French Toast so much that she orders it every week! Because I like variety, I have tried practically everything on the breakfast and brunch menus and my favorite dishes are Huevos Rancheros and the Smoked Salmon and Bagel…. And the cappuccinos are outstanding.
You know that I dig any place that plays old school music from the 60’s and 70’s. And I especially like the informal atmosphere. This is a place where everybody can be comfortable, singles, couples, families, it’s all good. There is sidewalk seating when it is warm. But I like the inside vibe, which for some reason reminds me of an old soda fountain. This may be because of the shelves of colorful soda bottles which are really cool.
So if you’re ever in Montclair, NJ check out Raymond’s. I recommend it highly for breakfast, brunch, lunch, whenever you want to enjoy great food and a fun, relaxed atmosphere.
