Anyone who knows the Curator of the Museum Of UnCut Funk knows I want to travel to Cuba. Carteles magazine makes me want to go even more. Cuba is full culture, art, history and many untold stories I want to hear for myself.

Carteles magazine was one of the most popular Cuban illustrated magazines from the 1920s to the late 1950s. It’s full of great articles and tons of pictures of  everyday cuban life, sports, society, art, politics, architecture and much more. These Carteles magazine covers have fantastic artwork done by the famous Cuban artist Andres Garcia. Andres has done most of the cover work of Carteles and his covers are the most identifiable because of his deco style. He has been described as the Norman Rockwell of Cuba. What I found so appealing is the portrayal of Black and Brown women on the covers.
